INCREASING FAIR PERIODS Forecast for Otago.—The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation.—An anti-cyclone is centred to the south, but there arte depressions over the Western Tasman Sea and east of the Chathams. Forecast up to 5 p.m. To-day.— Fresh southerly winds, decreasing and tending to become easterly; weather cold and changeable, with occasional passing showers, but increasing fair periods. Weather in Dunedin.—Showers of rain fell throughout the day in Dunedin yesterday, and a cold south-westerly breeze blew steadily, but the sun broke through the clouds for periods totalling lhr 42min. Hail fell in some of the hill areas of the city, and Flagstaff was covered by light falls of snow. The maximum temperature was 43.8 degrees, and the minimum 35.2 degrees. Tire rain yesterday totalled 0.58 inches. Barometric pressure rose steadily during the day to 30.20 inches (1023 millibars).
