OTAGO ROWING CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Otago Rowing Club, which was held last night, was presided over by Mr S. G Styche. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the chairman urged members to begin train ng early in the season in order that club races could be commenced. Mr J. W. Smeaton, who seconded the motion, congratulated the committee on its work, especially in clearing the debt on the boathouse.— Several speakers endorsed the chairman s remarks that training and club races should start early in the season and also that the Wilson Fours Race be instituted at an early date.—The report and balance sheet were adopted. It was moved by the chairman that life members not holding any official position be members of the committee ex officio, with full voting powers—Several speakers were of the opinion that such an action would give the life members power to outweigh the constitutionallyelected committee.—The motion was defsdtsd. Mr F. Brough recommended that the committee raise finances for the purchasing of extra plant, especially an eightoar boat. The following office-bearers were elected: —Patron, Mr J. F. McGrath; president Mr S. G. Styche: vice-presidents Messrs P S. Anderson, T. Wheelwright, and J W. Smeaton: club captain. Mr G. Thorn; vice-captain. Mr B. Le Bas; secretary. Mr J.
