MEETING OF COMMITTEE The meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club Committee, held yesterday afternoon, was attended by Messrs L. C.'Hazlett (chairman), C. N. Draper, A. Clark, K. Clark, J. A. Gow, B.iS. Irwin. A. N. Smith, R. W. Wilson, and Dr E. R. Harty. The dates granted to the club for the new season were notified by, the New Zealand Racing Conference as follows: September 28 and October 5 (spring): December 26 and 28, 1946*<Cup); February 22 and March 1 (autumn); May 31, June 2 and 7, 1947 (iVinter). Six new members were elected to fill the vacancies on the membership list, leaving a waiting list of 27. The financial statement was tabled and approved, and accounts amounting to £ll6B 18s 3d were passed for payment. The programme for the spring meeting was approved, with a distribution of stakes money amounting to £G2SO. At this meeting two classic races will be decided—McLean Stakes (for two-year-olds) on the first day, and the Dunedin Guineas end J. B. Reid Cup (for three-year-olds) on the second day. Appointments for the spring meeting were made as follows:—Totalisator steward, Mr A. N. Smith; birdcage steward, Mr J, A. Gow; Judicial Committee Messrs Hazlett (chairman), Draper, Garrett, G6w, and Irwin. The following sub-committees were appointed for the ensuing year:—Tracks— Messrs Hazlett (chairman), A. Clark, Draper, Gow, and Wilson; Works—Messrs Hazlett (chairman), Draper, Greenfield, Gow, and Irwin; Finance—Messrs Smith (chairman), K. Clark, Garrett, Hazlett. and Dr Harty; Programme—Messrs Reid (chairman;, K, Clark, Hazlett, Gow, and Smith; Band, Catering, and Entertainment —Messrs Greenfield (chairman), Elliott, Hazlett, P-eid, and Dr Harty; Totalisator— Messrs Garrett (chairman). Draper, Hazlett. Smith, and Wilson. The appointment of officials for the new season was as follows: —Hon. treasurer, Mr A. N. Smith; handicapper, Mr C. E. Hassell; judge, Mr A. O. Wellwood; judge’s assistant, Mr J. Stevens; starter. Mr P. D. McNab; starter's assistant, Mr I G Macnab; clerk of scales, Mr C. R. Caffiti; clerk of course, Mr F. G. Carter; timekeeper, Mr J. A. White, Jun.; gates inspector. Mr T. D. Webster; veterinary surgeon, Dr S. O. Fromm; totalisator-man ager, Mr G. Wilhelmsen. The granting of certificates of fitness and character was confirmed in respect of applications for licences as follows.— Trainers —A. S. McKay, J.W. Greene, J. S. McKay; jockeys, N. A. Brunton, J. i. -UOJJOJAI miuts ’V -KT P UB sjrjeH The New Zealand Racing Conference wrote stating that the Certificates of Registration of the Otago Central Racin„ Club and the St. Bathans District Racing Club had been cancelled, as the clubs were either defunct or had not conducted meetings for the past six years. The application of the Kurow Jockey Club for file daw of December 21, 1946, in lieu of either April 19 or 26, 1947, allotted by the Racing Conference for its annual race meeting, and also the club s application for permission to race on the Oamaru Racecourse, were recommended. . The secretary of the New Zealand Racthe Conference wrote stating that licences and certificates in the Dunedin district for the 1946-47 season, had bsen granted as follows:—Trainers: H. A. Anderton.
