Gallimanfry was second to Joy Rosa in the Avonhead Handicap and an increase of 31b should not spoil his chance in the Redcliffs Handicap. Quickform has been reported as being by Boniform. The mistake occurred ir. the sales catalogue. She was got by Beneform a son of Multiform. Bruce has been working in company with Golden Souvenir and striding along freely in his work. He may be produced in the Selwyn Handicap. Tribal Night 9.7 won the Paparua Handicap in impressive style, but has 9.13 in the Heathcote Handicap, to be run over an extra quarter of a mile. Djiring the early part of the Grand National meeting close on 400 horses were being worked at Riccarton. These included about 200 horses in local stables.
Spanish Main has negotiated the Riccarton country without mishap and 'on that account is entitled to start favourite in the Hunt Cup. Money Bird has been shaping fairly well in his races at Riccarton. He was a good fourth in the Paparua Handicap, but was fading towards the finish. The racing may bring about the necessary improvement. Consistent
Tiger Tan 9.9 was third in the Winter Cup and fourth in the August Handicap with 9.10. He still has a big weight in the Selwyn Handicap, but his consistency may meet with reward. He will be up against Lexia and John o’ London, who beat him in the August Handicap, and still have comparatively light weights. Defeated Top-weight
Red Glare finished over 30 lengths behind Dumbo in the Grand National Steeplechase and about 20 lengths behind Spanish Main, who finished second He meets Spanish Main on 101 b better terms in the Lincoln Steeplechase and as a welldefeated top-weight has his full share of weight. Wild Note
In the Longbeach Handicap Wild Note is giving weight to winners in Indian Dawn, Special Flight and Royal Robe, and meets Knight Crusader on 51b better terms than when he beat him at Wingatui. He has none the best of it on paper, but as he has been working well at Riccarton, he mav justify the handicapper’s opinion
