TASMAN CROSSINGS
SCHEDULES REVISED
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 14. Revised schedules for the Tasman flying-boat service, the gradual introduction of new Mark V. Sunderlands on the Auckland-Sydney route, and the provision of a concession fare for return bookings are announced by Tasman Empire Airways, Limited. An alteration to the departure time from Auckland, to operate from the beginning of next month, was also announced.
A,start was made this week with the running of five trips a week each way between Auckland and Sydney, and this will continue for the remainder of August. Beginning pn September 2, the company will run six flights each way every week, one every day except Sundays. Flying on Sundays will be undertaken only m the event of a Saturday trip having to be postponed because of weather or other circumstances.
The concession for return bookings will also operate from September l: At present the fare is £3O each way, but from the beginning of next month the return flight will cost £57, and the single fare will remain at £3O. The new aircraft ard considerably larger than those with which the service has been maintained throughout the war. They will carry 30 passengers instead of the present maximum of 19, and are also expected to average faster times on the crossing.
