CAUSED BY MITES

RASH ON WATERSIDERS (Rec. 8 pun.) SYDNEY, Aug. 10. Mites living on wheat weevils recently caused two industrial stoppages among waterside workers loading coal on interstate ships, according to Dr A. C. Arnold in the Medical Journal of Australia, The workers developed a rash while trimming coal in ships which had carried bulk wheat during the war. Small quantities of weevily wheat remained on beams and ledges and the coal drove the weevils and mites out.

The workers were treated and the ships sprayed with pest exterminator and work was resumed without further incident.
