A LATER REPORT
FIVE BOATS RELEASED (Rec. 8 p.m.) LOS ANGELES. Aug. 10. The last batch of customers of the stranded gambling ship Bunker Hill when the water taxi service was cut off were brought ashore by five water taxis* which the authorities under a temporary truce released from those impounded. A water taxi service operator, George Garvin, co-defendant with Tony Cornero! on charges of conspiring to violate the State gambling laws, petitioned the Federal Court for an injunction against the city and county law enforcement officers. The petition contended that the ships were anchored outside California’s jurisdiction and therefore the authorities had interfered in foreign commerce and violated the Admiralty laws in impounding the water taxis.
