STOPPAGE THREATENED
HOME BUILDING IN SYDNEY TRANSPORT INADEQUATE (Rec 7 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 9. Unless transport is provided to bring timber and other materials to the city, home building in Sydney will collapse, and at least 20,000 tradesmen will be out of work, according to a spokesman for the Suburban Master Builders’ Association. He says that the north coast sawmills are now stacked out with milled timber for building, but. as transport is not available to move it, all the mills from Kempsey to the Queensland border will close next week Fibro-cement. steel and cement roofing tiles are unprocurable.
