A WELCOME VISITOR
LORD MONTGOMERY’S DOMINION TOUR (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Aug. 9. Commenting last night on the cabled report that Viscount Montgomery intended to visit New Zealand, the Prime Minister. Mr Fraser, expressed pleasure at the opportunity the visit would afford the Government and people of New Zealand to honour Viscount Montgomery for his leadership of the armies in North Africa and Western Europe. Nothing definite has been fixed concerning the duration of Viscount Montgomery’s visit to New Zealand, but it is hoped it will be sufficiently long to afford him full opportunity, noi only for discussions with the Government and military authorities, but also to visit different parts of the country to meet the people generally.
