GUNNERS OF THREE WARS

REUNION IN CONCERT CHAMBER A reunion of all artillerymen o who have served the guns either outside or in New Zealand since the South Africa war was held in the Concert Chamber last night. The gathering of over 450 gunners who attended the function included three South African War veterans, and 27 artillerymen from the 1914-18 conflict, the remainder consisting of gunners from the two divisions *>f the recent war, and those who had manned the guns in home defence. The president of the Ex-artillery-men’s Club (Mr R. E. Ham) was in the chair and expressed the hope that all ex-gunners would support the club, the aims of which were to bring all old gunners together and to provide assistance, when necessary, for gunners or their dependents. The organisation was there, and it was up to the gunners themselves to make it a success. The following toast list was honoured: “The Royal Regiment of Artillery Fallen Comrades”; “Boer War Members,” proposed by Mr J F. G. Stark and responded to by Mr F. H. Irvine; “Great War Members,” proposed by Mr J. G. Warrington and responded to by Mr J. M. Paterson; “ 2nd N.Z.E.F.,” proposed by Mr J. G. ‘Jeffery and responded to by Mr J. Darling; “ Home Servicemen," proposed by Mr D. Wahrlick, and responded to by Mr Matthew Dibi. During the evening items were given by Messrs F. Cherry, W. Pollock and A. Raitt (songs), and Bob Shannon’s Orchestra.
