FIVE GOALS TO SCHOFIELD
A keen struggle kept the spectators interested for 90 minutes in a game producing 11 goals, from which Mornington gained two points from University B Schofield scored early for Mornington. University tried Hard to open up play to their forwards, but the Mornington defence blocked all attempts at scoring. Schofield, at centre-forward, played well, and secured two further goals. Colquhoun saved his side repeatedly with fine goalkeeping Swanson sent up for Evans to score, and the same player added another McSkimming scored for Mornington with a corner kick which beat Colquhoun. University was awarded a penalty, and Swanson scored from the rebound. Mornington showed more method in the second spell, and Schofield put them ahead. Swanson scored, and Evans equalised with a penalty. In a final effort, Schofield secured his fifth goal. The final scores were: Mornington 6, University B 5. Mr H. McDonald was the referee.
