FAST, OPEN GAME
TRAINING COLLEGE BEATS ALHAMBRA Both the Training College and Alhambra teams opened up the game in their meeting at the Caledonian Ground, but the College backs proved too fast for the opposing rearguard, and had the better combination. College won by 22 points to 9. The score at half time was 16 points to 3 in favour of College, but in the second spell the Alhambra forwards held the upper hand, and some strenuous work took place at the College twenty-five. The Alhambra half-back, D. Leckie, gave his outside backs plenty of the ball from the scrums, but they could not finish off the chances that were offered. Two of the College tries were scored from spectacular thrusts, but another was a gift, when an Alhambra man threw the ball to his full-back. He missed it, and a College man ran through to score. Tries were scored for College by B. Humphries, E. McDonald, W. Harrington. J. Mullins, and S. Walker. R. Orr converted two o'f the tries and kicked a penalty goal. O. Parker and D. Leckie scored for Alhambra, and R. Maitland kicked a penalty goal. Mr J. Mattingly was the referee.
Just before time •an Alhambra player was ordered off.
