FAMINE RELIEF

PLEA BY SOCIETY OF FRIENDS The necessity to combat the widespread prejudice and indifference to famine relief in Europe was emphasised at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Society of Friends. A special minute stressed “ the Christian duty of feeding ex-enemies no less than ex-allies,’’ and commended what was described as the Quaker testimony and service which Mr Colin Morrison was rendering in his public position as secretary of C.0.R.5.0. The Friends at the meeting contributed £33 to C.0.R.5.0. for the purchase of food, in addition to individual contributions aggregating £l2O for general relief. The Friends Service Committee is sponsoring an advertisement calling for contributions from the public for the sending of food overseas.
