CLOUDY AND COLD Forecast for Otago. The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— ' Situation.—There is a system of depressions east of New Zealand and a ridge of high pressure is moving on to the country. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Light south-westerly winds predominating and freshening gradually on the coast; weather cloudy and cold, with scattered mist or drizzle at first and occasional showers later, especially near the coast. Further Outlook.—A few coastal showers, but mainly fair.

Weather in Dunedin.—The weather in Dunedin over the weekend was mainly line. Temperatures were mild on Saturday, the maximum reading being 54 degrees and the minimum 38.9 degrees, and 3 hours 48 minutes of sunshine were recorded. A light easterly breeze during the day changed'to a north-easterly at night, when a frost of 2 degrees was recorded. Only a brief period of sunshine was experienced yesteiday, but temperatures were agajn mild, the maximum reading being 47.7 degrees and the minimum 40.4 degrees. Rain fell steadily during the night. The barometric pressure dropped gradually over the week-end, and steadied at 29.50 inches (999 millibars) .yesterday afternoon. The reading was unchanged at midnight.
