HONGKONG CURRENCY
IMPORT RESTRICTION LIFTED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 25. In 1942, when the Japanese over-ran Hongkong, New Zealand, in common with other parts of the British Empire, prohibited, save with consent of the Minister of Customs, the importation of Hongkong Treasury and bank notes. This action was to prevent the illegitimate use of such currency. To-night’s Gazette revokes this customs import prohibition order, and Hongkong currency is now able to be brought into the Dominion. f "
