people who are anxious to correspond with people in this country This is an excellent opportunity for fostering a person-to-person friendship with a country with which New Zealand as a nation already has very close ties. The ages of the girls who wish for pen friends range from 16 to 29. Some are in the training school at Kevalla, while 12 of the older ones are on the staff of U.N.R;R.A Anyone wishing to correspond with these girls is asked to communicate with C.0.R.5.0., Box 11, Government Buildings, Post Office, Wellington, asking for names, addresses and further details. Large quantities of food for Britain and many monetary donations are still being received daily at the Red Cross rooms. Sub-centres have contributed magnifiaently to this appeal and a special effort was made by the Owaka school children, who raised £4 17s Of a district donation of £2B by means of a copper trail. The home nursing classes will begin next Tuesday night in the Queen’s Buildings, when an hour’s practical work will be given. i On Monday night, V.A.D.’s from the Roslyn and Anderson’s Bay detachments were on duty at the Railway Station, dispensing supper provided by the Patriotic Council to southern personnel from the J Force who arrived by the Chitral. The V.A.D. sewing guild will be held on Monday night in the Queen’s Buildings.
