Mrs Leslie F. Cleghorn has been reelected president of the Otago branch of tlie Plunket Society.

Miss Huia Parata, of Highgate, is the guest of Mrs W. D. Scoular. of Matakanui Station.

Mrs J. E. Macassey is on holiday in Wanaka.

Mr Jan Rubini and Miss Terry Walker will leave this morning to visit Gore and Invercargill. Mrs F. R. Cameron and Mrs T. McLay, of Waikouaiti, Mrs R. C. McLeod, of Lawrence, and Mrs J. Labes and Mrs W. (Cunningham, of Waitahuna, have left for Wellington, where they are attending the conference of Women's Institutes.

The annual ball of the Wyllie’s Cross-. Ing Lawn Tennis Club was held in the Coronation Hall. Mosgiel, when some 340 guests assembled. The grand march was led by the president, Mr Hollander, and Miss Hollander. Mr D. McKenzie and Mr W. Hollander were the masters of ceremonies, and the music was supplied by the Royal and Laing’s Dance Bands.

The teaching and house staff of McGlashan College held an informal afternoon tea gathering on Tuesday last in honour of Miss Phyllis Arbuckle, whose marriage will take place shortly. Presenting Miss Arbuckle with a picture from those present, the princpal, Mr J. Conolly, referred to the esteem in which she was held by the pupils and staff, and expressed regret at her departure from the school. He wished her every happiness in her new life. Miss Arbuckle expressed her thanks, and referred to the many lasting friendships she had formed during her stay at the college. On the previous evening the presentation of an electrc toaster was made on behalf of the pupils.
