PROFESSIONAL TOURNAMENT
(Rec. 9.30 p.m.) EW YORK, July 7. The National Professional Lawn Tennis Championships opened at Forest Hills, New York. W. Tilden. now aged 53 and Vincent Richards, his famous Davis Cup doubles partner, each won their"opening matches easily. At Philadelphia, in the final of the Men's Professional Doubles, Kovacs and Perry defeated Van Horn and Riggs 9—7, I—6, 6—2. 5—7 6—l The match lasted two hours.
