Dr E. Whitta is the guest of her mother, Mrs W. Newlands, of London street. Mrs Reginald Dawson, who has been on holiday in the North Island, has returned to Dunedin.

The Gardening Circle of the Otago Women's Club will meet to-day. when the talk will be on gladioli Mrs Charles Gore, Mrs Nelson Martin and Miss Jan Crossan left Dunedin on Friday to take part in the ice-skating at Alexandra. The speaker at the Travel Club tomorrow morning will be Dr W. P. Morrell, professor of history at the Otago University. Miss U. M. Walker, formerly a member of the chief postmaster's staff at Dunedin and more recently on the staff of the Roxburgh Health Camp, will leave tomorrow for Adelaide on a six months’ visit to her sister, Mrs- J. G. Somerville. On Friday night last the Otago Hospital Board held its annual staff dance in the St. John Ambulance Hall. The music was provided by the Ramblers’ Dance Band, and the function was well attended. Mr and Mrs R. Sloan Brown, of Dunottar. entertained about GO guests at a 5 o’clock party at their home on Saturday evening, in honour of their daughter, Rosslyn, who recently announced her engagement to Gilmour, son of Mr and Mrs T. Ross, of Dalmore
