MEETING OF COMMITTEE The monthly meeting ot the committee of the Otago A, and P. Society was held on Thursday afternoon, and was attended by Messrs S. P. Cameron (president) in the chair. J. A. Miller, J. R. Fairbairn. C. M. Bruce, C. V. Smith, D. B. Craighead, K. Clark, W. H. Elliott, W. A. Yardley, J Fox, D. Ireland, F. L. Nicolson, C. T McCallum. J. Hellyer, W. S. Thomson, J. Young, J. Allison, G. Masters. S. Mosley, J F, Aubrey, A. 11. Templeton and the secretary. The Finance Committee recommended payment of accounts amounting to £3614 8s Id, which included most of the Winter Show expenditure and prizemoney. and on the motion of the treasurer these were passed for payment. The bank balance was stated to be £2B 5s Bd. •, The Winter Show statement showed a satisfactory credit balance, and the president expressed the thanks of the committee to all who had contributed to its success. • Several suggestions for improvements for next year were received. vercargill and Dunedin to discuss the holding of South Island championship shows. It had been agreed that these be held in the three centres in the years when a Royal Show would not be held in the South Island and that the first be held in Christchurch in 1947.

A letter was received from the Domain Board granting the lease of a further piece of land adjoining the Tahuna Park motor camp at a rental of £5 per annum, and it was decided that this be fenced and prepared for motor camp purposes. A full report of the progress made with the plans for the new Winter Show buildings was received, and approval was given of this having been submitted as a centennial project. The full support of the society for the establishment of a South Island seedtesting station was given and it was decided that joint action would be taken in due course with other South Island organisations to force this issue. The nominations for the Electoral College of the Meat Board and the Wool Board were noted, and it was agreed that the society should take no official part in sponsoring any of the candidates. The chairmen of the respective Summer Show sub-committees were asked to meet and consider the schedule, prizes, transport and night carnival, and bring down general recommendations for the Summer Show to be held at Tahuna Park on Saturday, November 23. /
