CATCHMENT BOARDS
TRADES COUNCILS’ INTEREST (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 12. Trades councils may be given representation on catchment boards. The Federation of Labour has approached the Government with this proposal with a view to safeguarding land against the effects of mining operations. The president of the federation, Mr A. McLagan, M.L.C., told the annual conference that the proposal was to receive the consideration of the Government, as requests had been made to the Minister of Mines. Mr J. O’Brien, and the Minister of Lands, Mr 'C. F. Skinner.
