GARAGE DESTROYED
(P.A.) WHANGAREI, June 12. An early-morning fire at Awanui, in the Auckland province destroyed Gardiner’s garage. The damage is assessed at £6OOO, a large quantity of re-cently-installed plant being lost. The fire brigade ran out 1600 feet of hose and pumped water from the river, this saving an adjoining building and preventing the threatened destruction of the township.
