MR ATTLEE ACCLAIMED LONDON, June 11. Delegates to the Labour Conference acclaimed Mr Attlee’s speech as the most stirring he has so far made. The applause continued for several minutes. ( In spite of opposition by the Labour * Party executive to two resolutions criticising Government publicity and public relations- machinery, the conference endorsed both resolutions. Speakers for the resolutions complained that Government propaganda was inadequate. The Government had been losing many supporters since last election.

Mr Arthur Greenwood, voicing the executive’s opposition to the resolutions, was frequently interrupted by delegates. There were cries of “No ” when Mr Greenwood declared propaganda was the duty of the rank and file of the party. He considered the resolutions unnecessarily prejudicial to the party’s cause. They would give the misleading impression that Labour was losing its hold on the country.
