SWEARING-IN CEREMONY

ARRANGEMENTS FOR MONDAY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 12. The swearing-in of Lieutenant-Gene-ral Sir Bernard Freyberg. V.C.. as Governor-General of New Zealand will take place in Parliament House grounds shortly after mid-day on Monday. General Freyberg, accompanied by Lady Freyberg, is travelling to New Zealand in the Ruahine, which is due to berth at Wellington on Sunday morning but General and Lady Freyberg will not land until Monday morning. The Administrator, Sir Michael Myers, attended the acting clerk of the Executive Council, Mr W. O. Harvey. will board the Ruahine at 9.15 a.m. on Monday, and will be followed five minutes later by the Prime Minister, Mr P. Fraser, other Ministers of the Crown, the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand. Sir Patrick Duff, and the chiefs of staff of the services. After the Ministers, Sir Patrick Duff, and the chiefs of staff have disembarked, followed by the Administrator attended by the acting clerk of the Executive Council, the Governor-General designate and Lady Freyberg will land, and be received by the Administrator and the Prime Minister. A salute of nineteen guns from a saluting battery will be Bred, and the royal salute will be given by a composite guard of honour from the three services. A formal address of welcome, to which General Freyberg will read a reply, will be read from the dais by the chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board, after which the official party will go by car to the Wellington War Memorial, where General Freyberg will lay a wreath. They will then drive to the town hall, and later to Government House, where the Administrator and Lady Myers will receive General and Lady .Freyberg and then take their departure. Weather permitting, an air escort will be provided from Government House to Parliament House, and on the return journey, after the swearingin ceremony. The oath of allegiance and the oath of office will be administered by Sir Michael Myers. At the conclusion of the ceremony the Prime Minister will deliver a speech of welcome to their Excellencies, to which his Excellency will reply. The Gover-nor-General will then inspect returned servicemen before beginning the return journey to Government House
