TOLL CIRCUITS INCREASED
DUNEDIN AND WELLINGTON A greatly improved toll service should soon be available between Dunedin and Wellington and other North Island centres as the result of the installation of a second 12-channel carrier system across' Cook Strait. It is hoped to have the system available next month, and this will mean that .three direct Duriedin-Wellington circuit’s will be in operation, representing ,an increase of two circuits. In addition, a number of additional circuits will be provided between Christchurch and Wellington. This announcement was made yesterday by Mr M. S. Myers, director of the Dunedin Development Council, who stated that the additional circuits should prove of great advantage to ■local business men. “It was felt,” Mr Myers added, “ that any priority in the distribution of long-distance telephone equipment v should be given to Dunedin.”
Representations on the subject were also made by the Dunedin Chamber Of Commerce..
