LARGER FRUIT CROP
HAWKE'S BAY FIGURES (P.A.) HASTINGS, June 11. Although the pear crop was 72,000 cases lighter, apples received at the Internal Marketing Division's assembly shed at Hastings have been 106,000 cases more than to the same period last year, giving an overall increase over 1945 in the Hawke’s Bay pip fruit crop of 34,000 cases. Until the end of last week 775,000 cases of fruit had been received at the assembly depot, including 701,000 cases of apples and 74.000 cases of pears. The total overall crop for the season is estimated to reach 815,000 cases, compared with 767,000 cases last season.
