Mr John Andrew left yesterday for Wellington. Lieutenant-colonel R. B. Whitehead, of Oamaru, arrived in Auckland yesterday by the Port Dunedin from England. Mr M. S. sKinner. said the club had had only one patron, the late Mr Charles Todd, who had presented the club with its first ground, and since his death some years ago the position had remained vacant as the committee considered that the honour should not be lightly conferred. McLean, who retired from tne Executive Committee of the Dunedin Returned Services’ Association at the recent annual meeting, was met by the members of the new Executive Committee last night at an informal function, and was presented with an illuminated address by the president, Mr S. P. Cameron, on behalf of the members. High appreciation was expressed of the services given to the association by Mr McLean, who was a member of the first Executive Committee in 1916. He served continuously until 1921, and was treasurer in 1920. He was also elected a member continuously from 1940 to 1945. and was president in 1942.
