THE COLONIAL MUTUAL LIFE ASSURANCE SOCIETY LIMITED HAS PLEASURE IN PRESENTING THE PRINCIPAL FEATURES OF THE SOCIETY’S ANNUAL REPORT For the Year ended 31st December, 1945. NEW BUSINESS SUMS ASSURED UNDER NEW POLICIES IN THE ORDINARY AND INDUSTRIAL DEPARTMENTS TOTALLED £18,573,974A RECORD FOR THE SOCIETY. FURTHER SUBSTANTIAL PROGRESS WAS RECORDED IN THE ACCIDENT DEPARTMENT. TOTAL INCOME, WHICH IN THE PAST 10 YEARS HAS MORE THAN DOUBLED. EXCEEDED SEVEN MILLION POUNDS. PAYMENTS TO POLICYHOLDERS DURING THE YEAR TOTALLED £2.778,021, AND SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THE SOCIETY HAVE AMOUNTED TO OVER FORTY-FIVE MILLION POUNDS. CONTINGENCY RESERVES, GIVING ADDED SECURITY OVER AND ABOVE NORMAL POLICY LIABILITIES. WERE FURTHER STRENGTHENED. ECONOMY OF MANAGEMENT WAS REFLECTED IN A FURTHER REDUCTION IN ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS. THE SURPLUS FOR THE YEAR was £1,238,852. BONUSES HAVE BEEN INCREASED, ON THE MAJORITY OF ORDINARY POLICIES, UP TO 33 1-3% OF’AMOUNTS DECLARED IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR AND IN OTHER DEPARTMENTS MAINTAINED.
