AIRMAN ON TRIAL
ALLEGED THEFT OF RADIO EQUIPMENT
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 28. Radar equipment was among a collection of electrical apparatus produced in the Magistrate's Court to-day when Donald George Lawson, aged 20, an airman and radio serviceman, was charged with stealing property worth £565 from the Air Department at Ohakea between August, 1944, and February 1946, electrical gear valued at £49 19s, the property of persons unknown, and electrical equipment valued at £3 2s from the National Electric and Engineering Company. He pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was fixed at £SO, with one surety of £SO. The evidence for the prosecution included a statement that some of the radar equipment concerned was still on the secret list.
