A RECENT APPOINTMENT
Sir, —Will the executive officer of the S.P.C.A. please state on what ‘occasion did the committee “ adopt the usual procedure, or rather the one that it had adopted in previous years when a vacancy occurred ”? In the obituary of Mr Grant’s predecessor' it was stated that the deceased “ accepted ” the position of inspector 14 years ago. Has a successful applicant got to accept the position after applying for it? I repeat my previous questions asking “if the appointee served overseas in navy, army, air force or mercantile marine in either World War I or II,” also “if the advertisement for applicants to fill this vacancy stated that preference would be given to returned servicemen, and if it did not—why ”?—I am etc., Democrat. Dunedin, Feb. 13.
