ANDERSON’S BAY FOOTPATHS

Sir,—lf such street pavement work as is being done in Anderson’s Bay was done in the most primitive locality, the residents of Snake Gully, I am certain, would meet and pass a vote of thanks. If the residents of Anderson’s Bay were not so complacent they would meet and pass a vote of condemnation on the city council. The years have gone by—l 3or 14 at least—and the western side of Spottiswood street is still a track through the jungle, a track heavily laced with fine shingle which gets into one’s shoes. As one ploughs through it to its far end, and meets the smooth macadam and tarsealed surface of Norman street, one begins to appreciate that the residents and not the councillors are to blame. If ratepayers pay their rates for 15 years or more and get no amenities, they may be blamed for the Snake Gully policy of inaction. I think they agree. Councillors should have a look.—l am, etc., E. C. Powell. Feb. 13.
