VICTORY CARNIVAL
The first two heats of the " Donkey Derby,” one of the many novelties arranged in conjunction with the St. Clair Victory Carnival, will be held to-night on the St. Clair Beach, in front of the Esplanade. Thirty-two entries have been received, and these have been divided into four heats of eight donkeys each. The second and third heats will be run on Tuesday night next, the semi-finals on Thursday, and the finals on the following Saturday. A cup has been presented by Mr J. Brown. During the week a willing band of helpers has bfen busy laying down a fine open-air dancing floor next to the bandstand, and preparing stalls for the games and amusements. The Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron) will open the carnival at 7.30 to-night.
