VISIT TO DUNEDIN

SALVATION ARMY LEADER CIVIC FUNCTION ARRANGED The international leader of the Salvation Army, General George L. Carpenter, and Mrs Carpenter, will arrive in Dunedin on the morning of Friday. January 18, in the course of a month’s evangelical campaign in New Zealand. They will travel by car from Oamaru. On their arrival here General Carpenter and Mrs Carpenter will be the guests of the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs D. C. Cameron, at morning tea in the mayoral reception rooms, and at 11.15 they will be tendered a civic reception in the Council Chamber. The visitors will be welcomed by the Mayor, who will be supported in his remarks by the Rev. J. S. Somerville, M.C., C.F. Mr Somerville recently returned from Italy, and will be able to speak with a first-hand knowledge of the work of the Salvation Army in the field. General Carpenter will reply.
