HEAVY FRUIT CROP

HAWKE’S BAY GROWERS (PA.) HASTINGS. Jan. 4. Another heavy crop of pip and stone fruits is likely in Hawke's Bay this season the estimate of the Horticultural Division of the Department of Agriculture being. 1,223,000 cases. The yield is estimated at 850,000 bushel cases of apples, 128,000 cases of pears, and 245,000 cases of stone fruits. The pear crop is disappointing, but the peach crop may possibly be a record. Rain is badly needed to swell the fruit, especially the stone varieties.
