HOLIDAY SEASON Although conditions at the commencement of the holiday season were somewhat unsettled, there was a gradual improvement and mainly fine weather has been experienced for the holidays. Sum-mer-like conditions prevailed over the New Year, but there was a change early on Thursday morning, when rain set in, and a heavy fall was experienced. Overcast skies, 'with occasional showers, continued throughout the day, but there was a return to fine weather on Friday With the advent of the holiday season, there has been a steady influx of visitors to the town. All the accommodation in the town has been fully booked, and there has been a large number of campers at the local camping grounds. Suitable spots in the immediate district have also been popular with campers, and this season a record number have visited the town and adjoining district. FRUIT SEASON With the improved weather of the past few weeks, early peaches have been coming to hand more freely. To date consignments have been going forward fairly steadily, and these have been bringing good prices. STOCK SALE As a result of representations by the lov.al Saleyards Company, the Dunedin Stock Agents and Wool Brokers’ Association advises that the January sale at Cromwell will now be held on Thursday, January 10.
