ANGLING
The Waitaki River was in perfect, condition for fishing over the holidays, and it was reported that there were plenty of fish in the river, although in some places, especially at the mouth on the south side, it was'difficult to fish owing to the growth of weed. It is expected that if this river remains in its present condition this season should be excellent for salmon. Many anglers were rewarded with good bags, the heaviest fish reported turning the scales at 91b. It is reported that there are some excellent salmon holes in the river. One prominent local fisherman said that the trout season so far was one of the best for many years at the Waitaki, the river being well stocked.
