PROSPECT OF FURTHER SHOWERS Forecast for Otago—The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering j*. the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 9 p-rn- jnSM yesterday by the Meteorological Office Wellington:— Situation.—A depression is approaching Southland from the West. Forecast to 5 p.ni. to-day.—Moderate, variable winds, with fair weather at first; southwesterlies becoming fresh again later, with further showers developing; temperatures cold. Further Outlook.—Changeable, showery conditions. Weather in Dunedin.—Boisterous, squally conditions prevailed in Dunedin on \ Monday. There were frequent showers j in the morning and a fresh south-w'est wind blew throughout the day. A mod--' ; erate south-easterly breeze yesterday kept the sky overcast and temperatures cool until the late afternoon, when the wind died down and there were three hours’ sunshine. The barometer was showing a slight falling tendency at midnight at 29.90 inches (1012 millibars).
