! TOLERANCE COUNSELLED AVCnfING REPRISALS Mp' SINGAPORE, Jan. 1. Lord - Louis Mountbatten, in a New Year's order of the day, warned the troops in Java to avoid reprisals, “ whatever the incitement.” He added that revenge breeds hatred and further violence.. “Only by your restraint and tolerance can conditions be reestablished in which the Dutch and Indonesians can discuss mutual aims and find agreement.”
