CHAIR OF MATHEMATICS NEW ZEALANDER APPOINTED SYDNEY, Dec. 22. Dr Keith Edward Bullen, a 39-year-old New Zealander with brilliant qualifications, has been appointed to the chair of applied mathematic* which was recently established by the University of Sydney. Dr Bullen obtained his M.A. degree with first-class honours in mathematics in 1927, and subsequently was lecturer in mathematics at Auckland University College In 1931 he proceeded to Camridge, where he continued his studies in mathematics and gained a degree. He was senior lecturer at Auckland University College until 1940, when he was transferred to the University of Melbourne. Dr Bullen is an applicant for the degree of Doctor of Science at the University of Cambridge.
