KARLY SETTLERS’ MUSEUM. Lower High street. Hours: Week days, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will find the museum a storehouse of interesting relics of the early days. There is on display a collection of early china SCENIC WALK.—From the terminus of the Opoho (No. 12) tram, it is a short walk to' the Centennial Memorial at Signal Hill, from which point there is a good view of the whole of the city and its surroundings. (Time required: 2J hours,) ART GALLERY.— Logan Park (bus from Jacobs’s Corner). Hours: Week days, 10 a.m, to 4.30 p.m. Sundays, 2 to 4 p.m. As a result of valuable bequests, visitors to the Art Gallery have the privilege of inspecting many pictures of outstanding merit in the portrait section. There are works by such, painters as Gainsborough and Hoppner. Of the works of earlier painters, none has attracted more attention than the portrait of the Earl of Macclesfield, painted by William Dobson about 1640 and purchased from the Robert Hay bequest in 1931. BOTANIC GARDENS, Dunedin North.—A No. 2 or No. 4 tram goes to the entrance of the Lower Gardens, where there is a fine display of roses. By taking the No. 12 tram visitors may first inspect the Upper Gardens and afterwards walk down the hill. BUBLIC LIBRARY.—Moray place west. Hours: Week days, 9.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m.; Sundays, 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Books on display this week are: Modern novelists, handwriting, holiday reading, question of taste, Christmas song and story, Christmas tradition, and Christmas art displays—- “ The Mother and Child,” “ A Child is Born,” and “ The Story of Christmas.” OBSERVATION TOURS. Observation tours will be run from the Municipal Chambers Octagon, at 2 p.m. on week days and at 2.15 p.m. on Christmas Day and Sundays. The routes to be covered are around Otago Peninsula, to Wbare Flat, or around Dunedin. GOLF COURSE.—The Ocean Beach municipal golf course, of 18 holes, situated near the terminus of the St. Kilda (No. 7) tram, is available for the use of the public on payment of a small green fee. TEPID SWIMMING BATHS.—Moray place south. Hours for mixed bathing: Monday, noon to 1.30 p.m, 4.30 to 6 p.m., 8 1.0 9.30 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, 6.30 to 8.15 a.m., noon to 1.30 p.m., 4.30 to 6 p.m., 8 to 9.30 p.m.; Saturday, 6.30 to 9 a.m., 3 to 5 p.m.. 8 to 9.30 p.m.; Sunday, 8.30 to 10. a.m. OTAGO MUSEUM.— King street. Hours: Week days, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sundays. 2 to 4 p.m. The Museum has an agricultural exhibit in which the ancestors of the principal types of stock used by New Zealand farmers are described and displayed by means of models. ORGAN RECITAL.—A recital on the Town Hall organ will be given by Dr V. E. Galway, city organist, assisted by Miss Elisabeth Galway, vocalist, at 8.15 p.m. to-morrow. Visitors will be admitted free.
