GRAIN AND PRODUCE

ALL MARKETS QUIET Milling wheat deliveries have finished for the season, as the Wheat Committee pool is now closed. Any lines yet to be threshed will be available for fowl feed purposes. There is no surplus of fowl wheat, but it is expected that there will be sufficient supplies for all purposes until the new season’s grain comes to hand. Oats of all varieties are in little demand, and although the Government will grant export licences for shipment to other countries, this does not seem to have stimulated any marked volume of business. The North Island is interested only in extra choice heavy lines of Gartons, and even these are slow of sale. The chaff market remains quiet, and it is difficult to quit any but the best quality. Prices remain unaltered at £7 per ton, ex truck, Dunedin, sacks extra. There are now no old potatoes available in Dunedin, and the market is being supplied with new potatoes in reasonable ql pererinial ryegrass of good growth still has an inquiry, as also have white c over and Montgomery red clover, but little of these seeds is available. For most of the other lines, such as crested dogstail, cocksfoot, Chewings fescue, and browntop, there is practically no business passing. There will probably be a lull for the next month in all classes of seeds, as until the end of that period there will not be much information regarding tne outcome of next season’s crops. It is expected, however, that the New Year will see a good demand for.all varieties. Flour, Bran, etc. Flour: 200’s, £l3 15s; 100’s, £l4 12s 6d; 50’s, £l4 17s 6d; 25’s, £ls 7s Od.
