THE LOAN AGREEMENT
Sir,—By those who are not content with palatable superficialities, it remains to be seen whether the conditions attached to the United States loan to Great Britain mean a real attempt by the Americans to cast their bread upon the waters, or simply a continuation of the Shylockian poliev which has brought sackcloth and ashes to countless generations. When will nations and -individuals realise that no power on earth, not even money diatomic power, no matter who wields it, can stop the social and economic progress of humanity? In other words, we are due to learn that world economy is indivisible and also the full implications of the promise “ To them that hath shall be given.”—l am, etc. A. Caldwell. December 20.
