UPHAM SCHOLARSHIPS

MONEY NOW BEING COLLECTED PURPOSE OF . FUND EXPLAINED (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 21. Money is now being collected to establish a scholai’ship fund to commemorate the deeds of Captain C. H. Upham, V.C. and bar. The scholarship will be available to the sons or male descendants of men and women of Canterbury who served in the armed forces during the war of 1939-45. The scholarships will be tenable at the Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, or. the Canterbury University College. The idea is to help the sons of deceased or disabled servicemen or servicewomen who may be prevented by financial circumstanced from continuing with their post-secondary education. The annual value will be £ 100. It is hoped to raise a fund sufficient to provide a number of scholarships each year.
