OWAKA
WELCOME HOME SOCIAL There was a good attendance at a welcome home social to Warrant Officer E. McNutt recently. The function, which took the form of a dance, was held in the Memorial Hall, and Mr E. R. Crawford was the chairman. At an appropriate interval, the chairman extended a cordial welcome to Warrant Officer McNutt and presented him with the usual monetary gift. Supporting remarks were made by Mr W. Gorman, on behalf of the Owaka R.S.A. Sub-association, and the Rev. Mr Smaill, on behalf of the local churches. The guest of the evening suitably replied. Music for the dancing was supplied by Mesdames Mcßratney, Tapp, and Gtrvan, and Miss Wood, with extras by Messrs Balloch and Connell. LODGE BALL To celebrate the anniversary of Owaka Olive Rebekah Lodge a ball was held In the Memorial Hall. It proved a most successful function, a large crowd attending. Music was supplied by Dick’s Band, Kaitangata.
