(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 16. Wild Ribbon and Prince Leighon took charge early in the Hororata Handicap, having a lead of several lengths after four furlongs, with Koa Manu and Nightchild leading the others. Baffling followed these four round the home turn and ran to the front, a furlong from the post, stalling off a late challenge from Sir Tague, with Wild Ribbon hanging on for third. Koa Manu and Nightchild were next. Then came Olga's Choice, who met trouble at the entrance to the straight. Double Cross was crowded on the rails and nearly knocked down after going about a furlong. An inquiry showed that no blame was attachable to any rider. The Knight Memorial Derene soon joined Nurnie in front in the H A. Knight Memorial Handicap. Centime and Royal Rae followed them to the straight, where Nurnie collapsed. Royal Rae gradually wore Derene down, winning in the last stride. Two lengths back, Burberry just eaded Centime for third. Salmi was chopped out at the start, but finished close up. The Trial Plate Finalist, Superlative, and Royal Vestments led all the way to the straight in the Trial Plate. Superlative dropped out a furlong from home and Finalist went on to beat Royal Vestments decisively. Pandosto was always handy, but Language staged a strong run to run a dead-beat with him for third. Deficiency and Superlative were next. i The Bangor Handicap Prince Leighon and Lyndon Lea led Dash o’ Dink and Eudora nearly all the way to the straight in the Bangor Handicap. Lyndon Lea then retired and Racket came on to win easily, while Dash o’ Dink just failed to catch Prince Leighon, Eudora was close up. Glendore Trot King High broke after leading for six furlongs in the first division of the Glendore Trot. Wade Lane then took charge and won easily, with Paul Defiant and Task Force In the places after being always bandy. Sir Vesta led till two furlongs from home In the second division, when Local Gold took charge and stalled off his stable mate, Renown’s Pride. These two and Task Force were A. Holmes's bracket. Novice Stakes Foreign Ways and Juriste attended Denary from the start in the first division of the Novice Stakes. Denary drew clear in the straight and heat Junste .easily, Leighmond staying on for third. In the second division Mister John made the pace to the straight from Legal Right, who then drew clear. Detain, after tailing off from a slow start, staged a great run in the straight, Legal Right beating him only by a bead. Detain is by Defaulter — Disdain, and is on the way tp good form. Snowdon Trot Worthy Gold began fast in the Snowdon Trot. She was second of Lady Ngaio after two furlongs and stayed there till near the winning post, when she went on to win decisively. This completed a good double for A. Holmes, who trained and drove this winner as well as one of the division winners in the Glendore Trot. Sandown Handicap^ Peter Gazelle led Scotch Tweed and Ration by several lengths to tlie straight in the Sandown Handicap. Good Friend then moved up fast, laking charge a furlong from the post and winning easily. Peculate made a late run to beat Peter Gazelle for second, with Chain and Here Hine heading the others.
