NOTES ON THE RUNNING

Young Bob and Tune led out in the Trial Handicap and were soon clear from Norse Lass and Young Monanui. Tune fell after going about three and a-half furlongs and brought down Some Coon and Friendly Light. Young Bob led into the straight and came on to win by two lengths from Young Monanui, who beat Norse Lass by half a length. Sir Garnish was half a length away fourth, with Master Baffles next. President’s Hack Handicap In the President’s Handicap Gold Spur and Patmso began best and led Sumra to the first turn. Patmos dropped back and Gold Spur and Sumra led into the straight. Sumra had Gold Spur beaten inside the final furlong and won by three lengths. Minorn was half a length away, with Patmos close up. Mclntyre’s Handicap Trot' Ima Grattan at once went to the front and led past, the stand from Crimson Trail, Ready Relief, Glenorchy and Royal Vicory. Ima Grattan continued in charge and finally won by eight lengths from Royal Victory, who was the same distance in front of Frae Dunoon and Musquis. Tapanui Handicap Foxchase dwelt at the start of the Tapanui Handicap and Good Cast led past the stand, with the others handy. Racing along the back the two were in close company, with Good Cast still in front. They turned for home in line, with Foxchase on the outside. Good Cast was kept busy and won by a neck from Maharajah, who was half a length .in front of Foxchase. Dwyer Memorial Handicap Burnbrae was slow away in the Dwyer Memorial Handicap and Girl Friend got chopped back. Lisheen showed the way to Sumra and Some Coon. The field was well strung out when coming round the top. Lisheen led into the straight and won by five lengths from Sumra, who beat Norse Lass by two lengths. Girl Friend was fourth. Fasslfern Trot In the Fassifern Trot Dalziel and Ready Relief led Silk Dillon past the stand. Ima Grattan broke at the start, but soon got going. Down the back Frae Dunoon, Dalziel, Crimson Trail, and Ima Grattan were showing the way. Frae Dunoon led into lire straight, but Ima-Grattan wore him down and won by three lengths. Royal Victory was HI lengths away third and Dalziel next. The others were easing up. Quin Memorial Handicap Combat opened up a lead of six lengths as they left the straight in the Quin Memorial Handicap, but Good Cast got to him after rounding the far turn, with Dearo next. Good Cast came on from Combat and won by one and a-half lengths from Dearo, who beat Combat by two lengths. Geniality was two lengths away. Stewards’ Hack Handicap In the Stewards’ Handicap Bonnie Chela and Kaipai led along the back from Merry Lancer and Girl Friehd. Bonnie Chela, Kapai and Merry Lancer turned for home in close order. A good finish resulted in Bonnie Chela winning by a neck from Merry Lancer, who beat Kaipai by a neck. Minorn and Girl Friend were next.
