A BETTER ATMOSPHERE PRODUCTION NOT AFFECTED LONDON, Dec. 13. “ Music while you work ” made people happier and more attentive, but it did not increase the output, was the majority view of 217 industrial concerns to which a questionnaire had been submitted by the Industrial Welfare Society. Only 10 per cent, claimed that production had increased; 35 per cent, claimed a standard output, with attention to work improved; 55 per cent, said a better atmosphere had been created. The analysis suggested that music justified itself, and there was ground for a more scientific inquiry.
