SOLDIERS’ NEWS LETTER
ST KILDA-ST. CLAIR COMMITTEE The St. Kilda-St. Clair Grant Soldier Letter Committee held its final meeting at the residence of the president (Mr W Rutherford) recently, for pose of discussing the disposal of the accumulated fund. A report presented by Mr E. Palmer (honorary treasurer) showed that there was a balance of £2B 6s 6d, and it was decided to give the money to the Montecillo Red Cross Home for the purpose of providing electric clocks for the dining room and billiard room. A motion of appreciation of Mr J. B. Grant’s work in the compilation of the letters was passed. The president referred to the work of the secretary (Mr H. Colquhoun), who had forwarded 180 letters a month to the men overseas, to Mrs Douglas Barton, and the many other helpers. Mention was made of the fine record of the servicerrten and women of the district, and a motion of sympathy with those’who had suffered bereavement was carried.
