FATAL HEART ATTACK
GENERAL DENTZ DIES IN PRISON FORMER COMMANDER IN SYRIA (Rec. 7 p.m.) PARIS, Dec. 13. General Dentz died of a heart attack after a long illness in Fresnes prison, where he was serving a life sentence. General Dentz • was French High Commissioner and Vichy commander in Syria when the Allies entered the country in June, 1941, to put ‘an end to Axis infiltration. General Dentz' resisted the Allied advance. In August last he was sentenced to death by a French tribunal, but General de Gaulle granted a reprieve, the sentence being commuted to life imprisonment.
