NEW MAGNET PRODUCED

VALUE IN RADIO WORK OSLO, Nov. 25. By using a new alloy, a Norwegian engineer named Jedbo has produced a magnet which should be an important contribution to the development of radio. The new magnet has a far greater magnetic strength than the ordinary steel types. A number of alloys, which include aluminium, nickel, and cobalt, have been found to make more efficient magnets than ordinary steel. No information about the Norwegian development has been received at the physics department of Otago University. The principal advantage of a stronger magnet in radio would be in the permanent magnet type of loud speakers, the efficiency of which would be increased.
